- This is a category for solo performers and focuses on pure scratching skill using one turntable.
This is a vinyl only category - DVS (Traktor, Serato etc.) are not allowed.
For the first round, any beat selection can be used to freestyle over. For the second round, all competitors are provided with the same beat. -
Online Qualification Rounds
- Online qualification rounds only
- Round 1 - Top half of competitors progress to Round 2
- Round 2 - Top 3 competitors progress to Scratch Category Finals

1 turntable, 1 mixer, vinyl only - no DVS
Set Length
90 seconds each round.
Round 1 - Any beat.
Round 2 - Beat provided.
Content
This category is about scratching only. In each round, competitors have to show off their freestyle cutting skills.
Format
Each competitor needs to be able to produce a video, ideally 1080p (fullHD) MP4 video at 25 FPS and a ‘clean’ audio in recording straight from the mixer. Camera microphone audio will not be accepted.

Information
- This is a category for solo performers and focuses on the essential turntablist skills: - scratching and juggling.
DVS (Traktor, Serato etc.) are allowed.
Also allowed, are the use of MIDI controllers and all mixer features. -

The Technical Category will be held ‘live’ at BEATGEEK on Friday 23rd September 2022
Physical attendance is required.
Equipment
Technics SL1210 Mk7 turntables will be provided as standard, if required. Any other equipment(s) need to be brought in by the competitor.
Set Length
Eliminations: 1 x 3 minutes. All DJs enter, 4 DJs advance to the semi-finals.
Semi-finals: 2 x 2 minutes. Winners advance to the Finals, losers battle for 3rd place.
Battle for 3rd place: 1 x 2 minutes.
Finals: 2 x 2 minutes.

Information
- This is a category for solo performers as well as teams and focuses on free form musical creativity with turntablism at the core.
At least one turntable must be used, everything else is up to the performer/s.
All DVS (Traktor, Serato etc.) features are allowed as well as MIDI controllers, synthesisers, drum machines and any other kind of instrument.
Showcase sets should resemble an artist or band performing a song more than a strictly technical turntablism routine.
Due to the diversity and complexity of this category, there are no preliminary rounds. -
